Macaroni and Cheese Bake
A Recipe From Canada
From the Kitchen of: Marion Vanstone
Don't know that I would call this a Canadian recipe, but it's my
favorite meal winter or summer. This can be a quick, economical lunch
dish or a potluck casserole.
| 1 1/2 | C | Scalded milk |
| 1 | C | Soft bread cubes |
| 1 | tbsp | Minced onion |
| 1/4 | C | Melted butter or margarine |
| 1 | C | Macaroni |
| 1 1/2 | C | Grated cheese |
| 1/2 | tsp | Salt |
| 1/8 | tsp | Pepper |
| 3 | | Eggs, slightly beaten |
- Preheat oven at 325 F.
- Grease a 3 quart shallow casserole dish.
- Pour scalded milk over soft bread cubes in large bowl. Add minced
onion and melted butter; stir in.
- Boil macaroni in salted water.
- Add grated cheese to bread cube mixture. (A sharp smooth-melting
kind of cheese is suggested). Add salt and pepper; mix lightly. Add
slightly beaten eggs and cooked, drained macaroni. Mix lightly and pour
into greased casserole dish. Bake and serve.
