GIFT GIVING TIPS:

Add some personal decorative touches to your Apple Spread containers: - use self adhesive stickers for labels - add lace, ribbons, or colorful fabric to tops of containers.

Prepare a gift basket containing several containers of Spiced Apple Spread (suggest you make a note to recipient to refrigerate spread immediately upon receipt.) You might want to include muffins or bread.

1	box	SURE JELL LIGHT Fruit Pectin
2	tsp.	Ground cinnamon
2	C	Sugar
1/8	tsp	Ground cloves
4	C	Unsweetened applesauce

• Combine pectin with 1/4 cup of the sugar. Mix applesauce and spices in large bowl. Add pectin mixture gradually to fruit, stirring vigorously. Set aside for 30 min., stirring occasionally.
• Stir remaining sugar gradually into fruit mixture until sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. Pour into plastic containers; cover. Let stand at room temperature 24 hours. Spread is now ready to use.
• Store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks or freeze extra containers up to 1 year. Thaw in refrigerator.

  Makes about 5 (1 cup) containers

  SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

  For breakfast, serve on muffins, toast or bagels. Great on pancakes or waffles too! For a quick snack, spread on crackers. For dessert, fill a spice cake or top a scoop of vanilla ice cream with apple spread. Don't forget basic favorite - spread on a peanut butter sandwich!
