UPDATE
5/1/09 - Thank you everyone for all your support. I was amazed at just how strongly so many of you felt about what happened. And that you took the time not only to write to me and to Jarden but to actually research much of what happened. Apparently, Jarden took all the emails they received [and there were a lot] very seriously as I just received a call from one of their VP's apologizing for the wording of the original letter and for the way this situation was handled. The threat of a lawsuit has been stopped.
WHAT: Please note that
the name of the Crock Pot Cooking chapter has changed to Crockery Pot Cooking. We've also changed all useage of Crock Pot in each individual recipe to Crockery Pot.
WHY: This is due to the threat of legal action to the 50+ Friends Club and myself by Iraima C. La Nuez, Corporate Counsel of Jarden Consumer Solutions. JCS owns the trademark Crock-Pot and refuses to acknowledge or address my question as to whether or not Crock-Pot [hyphenated] and Crock Pot [two separate words] are one and the same. I don't believe they are. However, I don't have the time or resources to persue the threatened legal action.

Carole and
PepperP.S. I've had a number of people ask me for a recommendation for a non-Jarden slow cooker. Here are 3 pages that have reviews on slow cookers. I would think any of the recommended cookers would work well.
